Quiz Results

These are the results of a quiz I did. Hopefully this won't look too odd!

What Kind of Knitter Are You?

You appear to be a Knitting Adventurer. You are through those knitting growing pains and feeling more adventurous. You can follow a standard pattern if it's not too complicated and know where to go to get help. Maybe you've started to experiment with different fibers and you might be eyeing a book with a cool technique you've never tried. Perhaps you prefer to stick to other people's patterns but you are trying to challenge yourself more. Regardless of your preference, you are continually trying to grow as a knitter, and as well you should since your non-knitting friends are probably dropping some serious hints, these days.http://marniemaclean.com

I made some changes.

Hi all. I have made some shanges to my blog.

Firstly, I changed the template. I was getting bored with the last one and I decided that it was time for a change.

Secondly, I added work in progress bars on the side. Have a look. They are cool, aren't they?

That is all for now. I will try to do a craft related post sometime in the near future.

We finished Edwin!!

We finished knitting "Edwin" the clown. I knitted the camera, the banana and the doughnut. I also made the belt buckle, but you can't see it on this picture.

Isn't he cute? I really enjoyed helping my mum to make him, although the stitching up really hurt my hands :(

I got some yarn to make a duck from about two weeks ago and I cast on to knit the left back. That was ok, once I eventually realised the legs were knitted as part of that. Yesterday I finished off the right back and was looking for something else to cast on, when I realised there were no instructions given for the head. I have decided though that as some of the other instructions that are given for the dog that is on the same pattern sheet, I will knit the dogs head and hope for the best.

An update

I haven't written here in ages. I have just been working on so much stuff other than knitting, it has been pushed back over the last couple of months.

I still have to finish the dog (I know, I know), but at least it is just the eyes, jacket (eep!) and sewing up to be done. Then it will be finished! Hurrah! Only I want to knit a white one for myself. Why do I do it?

I have started to help my mum to knit a gift for a friends birthday. We are knitting a Jean Greenhowe knitted clown with accessories that are appropriate for the friend. Currently, I am knitting a doughnut!

I went to the wool shop the other day, Friday I think, and I got a gorgeous DK yarn. It is all muti-coloured and prettyfull. I cant wait to decide what to make out of it.

I also started on my first pair of socks. I say first because it is my first full-sized pair. I made a mini sock for Grandad's birthday, but that is all that I have done on four needles so far.

A day out to the wool shop...

On Saturday I went to the Wool Box. I bought some yarn, a book and some needles.Clockwise from top left: Harvest 4ply with wool, Wendy Supreme Cotton 4ply, Patons 100% Cotton 4ply, Patons Fairytale 4ply, Sirdar Snowflake DK Magic, Stylecraft Stardust DK, set of 4 3.25 DPN's and Patons Woolcraft book.

I had to get the Snowflake DK Magic. Someone showed me some that they had bought and I fell in love with it. I don't know what I will make with it, but I "needed" it. The Fairytale, the Wendy Supreme and the Stardust DK were only £1 a ball. So I went back yesterday and bought another ball of the Wendy Supreme 4ply and some Kool Kotton DK.

Shhh! I'm working on a secret!

Out of bordom and lack of other knitterly projects (I know!) I have startd to work on a secret project. It is something that I have been thinking about for a while, but have not really thought about starting until the weekend. But I am not revealing the true identity of my project until I know that it works.

I only have the eyes (and the coat, but I push that to the back of my mind!) to finish on the dog. then it just needs to be finished off, then it is done! Yay!

What can I do now :(

This post was supposed to be called "Knitting is not for wimps" with a great big picture of the blister on my finger.

But as all the pictures that I took were out of focus, I have no real reason to make a post now.

I went a bit mad...

On the 4th April it was my birthday and I got some money. "What can I get?" I thought to myself. And so I decided... Knitting Books!

So I bought:

Domiknitrix by Jennifer Stafford

Stitch 'n Bitch Handbook by Debbie Stoller

Stitch 'n Bitch Nation by Debbie Stoller

The Knitter's Bible (Book and Craft Kit) by Claire Crompton

The Knitting Question and Answer Book by Margeret Radcliffe

And so a good birthday was had by everyone, the end!

The dratted dog!

I have had no knitting oooomph for the past few days. I have mainly been living in my own head for the past few days.

I still need to finish the dog. Sarah-Louise's birthday has been and gone. I have started the body, but I need to finish it. Every night I say to myself I will work on it some more, but I am just too tired to do it in the evening.

I keep thinking about my dad's death. It really hurts that he has gone. I just wish that I had had a chance to say goodbye to him.

I've made myself a counter...

Lilypie Next Birthday Ticker

I have made myself the above counter because I am knitting Sarah-Louise a dog for her birthday. I never realised that I was such a slow knitter! Although, I have made the head, two right legs, one left leg, the ear backs and the tail. I am working on the other left leg. Then I just need to do the body, the paws, the ear fronts, the nose and the eyes. Way to make ones self feel better!

It is supposed to have a jacket, but that will take me an age to complete, so I may only make a collar.

I really don't want to write this...

On the 9th February my Dad passed away in Hospital. I don't really want to go into the details, as I have already typed it multiple times, but Blogger deleted it all.

I will write again soon.

Bin Monster!

My dad had a diabetic hypo on Thursday, three in total. One on Thursday morning, one Thursday evening and another Friday morning. His blood sugar levels were going up to about 11.0 and in the space of 15 minutes, they were dipping to 1.1 and lower. They think that they have managed to get him stabilised now and his blood sugar levels are now staying high (he is not on any of his diabetic medication because the doctors thought that it was safest for him to do that than him have any more hypo's). He has become really confused and aggressive now. Last night he asked how the dog was, we told him that she died on New Year's Eve (he had already been told this, I phoned him in hospital the night she died), and he said "no, I mean Lucky". Our dog, Lucky, died about 12 years ago. He also started to offer us some grapes, but he had no grapes there. Mum tried to discuss it with some of the nurses, but they were not sure if it was normal or not, so she is going to speak with the doctor today.

Anyway, I forgot to make up the monster in the bin. I was just too tired to get some stuffing out and make it up. I'll get some another day and make it up.

I am making a rabbit at the mo. I found a pattern that tells you how to make a rabbit out of a square of knitting. I am intrigued if it really works or not. The pattern can be found here.

I also want to knit a sock. I don't know why, but I do. Oh dear! Help me!

I also knit a pencil bookmark on Friday (pattern here). I used bamboo needles for the first time. They were hard to use at first, but I have become used to them now.

My mum is knitting my Aunt a dressing gown/bed jacket for her birthday. However she needs to knit it quickly so she has to knit it in front of her, so it is "my cardigan"! Just a bit of stupidity for a Monday!

I have become a nettle tea addict...

Oh dear!
I have to go. Bunny knitting calls!

Beans!

I am absolutely shattered. My dad is in hospital with MRSA and I have been knitting a lot recently with visiting him.

I managed to knit my Aunts birthday present, a tin of beans! I have a photo, but the photo memory card is playing silly things at the moment. Ah ha! I have got it to work! I shall not be defeated!

This is the tin on it's own. I decided to create the ringpull so that it would be easier to open the tin.

Oooooh! Beans!

Three beans!

The pattern for them came from Jean Greenhowe's Jiffy Knits book, which I bought off of eBay.

I have also knit the monster in the bin, but I still need to make it up and I have left my stuffing at Grandad's. I am visiting him tonight and I will get some and stuff it then.
